On March 25 and 26, 2026, attorney Sam Segal went to Washington, D.C. to meet with the Massachusetts congressional delegation to advocate in support of access to justice and the rule of law as part of the American Bar Association’s ABA Day 2026. Attorney Segal went down in his capacity as President Elect of the Massachusetts Bar Association and was joined by President Michael Hayden, as well as MBA staff, to push congress on four points:
· Increase funding for civil legal aid, which provides free legal services to veterans, the poor, and others in need;
· Increase funding for criminal defense attorneys who are appointed to represent defendants for free in our legal system;
· Preserve attorney-client privilege when using the federal prison email system; &
· Enhance security for judges and their staff who face increased threats and violence.
Attorney Sam Segal remains committed to increasing access to justice and enhancing the rule of law so that our legal system works better for everyone, and he wants to thank all of our congresspeople and their staff that took the time to sit down and speak with us and share their commitment on these topics that are so important to so many people.
